Pilgrimage 2015

For many gathered in the nave at Christ Church Cathedral (CCC) between the hours of 12:30 and 2:30 pm on February 1st, 2015, It’s quite likely that the words of the legendary New York Yankee’s cather, Yogi Berra entered their thoughts – “it’s like déjà vu all over again”. The purpose of this particular get-together was to extend the conversation to more members of the parish about the imminent, temporary relocation of all activities that take place in the upper level: narthex, nave, chancel and choir of the 120 year old church building at 690 Burrard.

Artist Refines Bell Spire Design

Artist Sarah Hall is approaching Christ Church Cathedral’s new bell spire as a “living sculpture” that will hold in tension light, colour, sound, and movement. Entitled Welcoming Light, Hall conceives of the bell spire as a beacon, a living “light house”, that “reinforces the identity of the Cathedral as a community partner open and responsive to change.”

Bell Spire to be Clad in Welcoming Light

An art glass image of windswept candlelight will wrap Christ Church Cathedral’s new bell spire. The Cathedral Trustees are pleased to announce that glass artist Sarah Hall has been selected to design the glass cladding for the spire. Hall conceives of the spire as “literally a lighthouse”, connected to Vancouver as a great port city and highlighting the Cathedral’s role as a guide to the parish and the community.
